I have not disappeared.

I spent the day on the beach and it was great.
I’m making a cabled cardigan I found on Patternfish. It’s this one. It’s a really fun site…lots of patterns that you prob can’t find anywhere else.

I finished my Kidsilk Haze Slouchy Coverup. It’s really slouchy. It needs a final blocking and a few more ends to weave in before it hits the blog. I think I might do buttons on the sleeves. Now I’m knitting a bikini, more tomorrow….
Henry is turning out to be a big mushy mush. Bobby is all play and all food all the time, as well as plotting his escape from my room. This morning, at some ungodly early hour…I heard something fall, and woke up to find Bobby on the floor standing next to a ceramic celery dish (yes, I have a celery-shaped dish in my room! I like to collect stuff like this) BROKEN. I can find another dish on ebay, so at least Bobby was okay. I go back to sleep, and wake up again with both kittens sleeping on me. They just learned how to get on to my bed.
Henry is so much like his Uncle Whiskers…he hopped up on my knee before and I quickly snapped a pic (excuse the crotch shot, ha)….
now here’s his uncle, Mr. Whiskers from a few months ago…

Bobby would like to add, that he too can join in on the heart fur patterns that his brother Henry has (post below this one) and Paige’s bunny, Cinnamon.

Bobby got a chin rubbing before and after this picture was taken, obviously.
Because this is a knitting blog and not a kitten blog (surprisingly..) Here’s my latest project, the Slouchy Cover Up from a Rowan Studio booklet. I’m getting closer to finishing the back, I have about 3″ to go. It’s double stranded Kidsilk Haze in Anthracite. The pattern called for 6 balls for the smallest size and right now it looks like I can get away with 5.

My two baby kittens are here! pictures soon! they are so teensy tiny and the cutest little mushywushys ever.
Long story about these two…they were moved between shelters and a foster home, had worms, had eating problems…now I’ve finally go my two babies. And I wasn’t able to get the real Mr. Whiskers lookalike because he was snatched up between yesterday and today. So now, here are Bobby & Henry. They’ve gone through many name changes before we even got them. Bobby is the little baby from a few posts below…his brother Henry has an upside down heart on his nose. It’s hard to tell them apart when they aren’t looking at me head on. Bobby has a million whiskers and delicate, long and whispy eyelashes. Henry is a little bit more fat, and has a lighter shade of black fur and in the light is spotted a little like a tabby. I’m keeping them in my room till they’re checked out at the vet for contagious [to other cats] problems. It’s funny, they’re 7 weeks old but they have tons of individual personality. I am so glad I got 2! They aren’t crying or nervous, and right now they’re sleeping together and purring. They prance around together and do a funny little standing jump and make cute noises. I Love, love, love them!!
henry…

Mr. Whiskers sister lives outside, she’s too hard to catch and she hasn’t been fixed (neighbor’s cat that escaped being sent to the shelter), had kittens sometime last month. We found them!! I’ve held two so far, one that is a miniature Mr. Whiskers and then this little guy today. I’m planning on keeping the baby whiskers, who will be named Henry, if his personality is nice enough. There are like 5 or 6 kittens supposedly hiding, I’ve seen 3 or 4 for sure. They are too tiny to take in, but today’s kitten fell off the steps and my sister brought him inside and I gave him so wet catfood. He is sooooo tiny and cute!! I think we’re going to take them in soon before they get too hard to catch! from the other post, now condensed. my mom called animal control, all 5 kittens were taken to the shelter, ms whiskers was taken too. I’m going to get two of them.
Here’s my sister with the little baby…we decided to call him Arthur.

awww. see the family resemblence!! I have no clue who the kittens’ father is, but they are either black and white or all black, their mother, Ms. Whiskers, is black with a white “locket”…so basically she’s cloned herself in these little guys. I don’t think there is anything I like more than kittens. I can’t wait till I can keep one of them.

Due to the loss of Magknits, I have added two links to the right under patterns to the new locations of the Garden Variety pattern.
For some reason my bio class was canceled for today. I totally needed a day off. I slept to a nice time, watched tv, got an iced latte, knit, read magazines, and relaxed. It’s great.
Yesterday I found this pattern on Ravelry. I really wanted to knit a scarf, but the weather keeps feeling like it’s going to get warmer soon. I figured this wouldn’t feel so hot to knit. I’m using Morehouse Merino 2ply on 6s. I like it so far, it’s interesting but easy to memorize.

I went to Berlin and came back yesterday. I didn’t really buy anything good except for tons of gummy bears for my brother and a lot of chocolate. Before I left I got myself an 80gb zune…the best thing in the entire world. I hated my ipod so much, it was the biggest piece of shit and the last piece of anything apple I will ever own.
In Berlin, I went to the aquarium and saw pretty jellyfish,

a shark with a lot of teeth

I had my favorite sandwich

spent a lot of time looking out the hotel window

and saw a torch across the street catch on fire!

BUT the best thing to watch from the window was the prostitutes! They were SO trashy and wore puffy coats with really tight corsets OVER them! and white boots! AND FANNY PACKS!! and they smelled like cheap perfume and general nastiness!!! I don’t have any pictures of them though.
The flickr collection is here.
Today I got a new digital camera. I didn’t think I really needed one, then somehow I ended up at the store buying it, then regretting it on the drive home..until I got home and opened it! It’s a lot like the one I was using but double the mp and it’s brown and not falling apart.
Here’s Fred.

I used to never watch movies, but now that I finally tried NetFlix I can knit and watch something other than the quilting shows. (The quilting shows are a really bad influence!)
I watched the best movie, and read the best book ever. North and South. I liked the movie better than the book because of the extremely hot guy that played John Thorton. This has been the best movie I think I’ve ever seen. It’s a little Pride and Predjudice in plot, but this is SO MUCH better than that.
Sunday night I watched this terrifying movie called Mulletville. It sounded like the perfect movie…mullets and a trailer park. It could have been so much funnier! Wait for the day I make a trailer park movie. I find the idea that I could buy myself a double wide in some states for the price of my car fascinating!
I watched Black Sheep last week. omg this was a movie!!! Killer sheep that rip out throats and organs and turn people into sheep-people. Sick! This was awesome, I knew it would be a great movie when at the beginning a crippled guy kills a sheep with an axe and then puts on the skin to scare a kid. Can’t top Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but it’s really funny and gross!
Then I’ve been watching that Doctor Who, the newish one…it sorta half lost me after the first season when they got rid of that guy who was the Doctor first, he was just so much more appealing…then when they killed off Rose in the second season I gave up!!
I watched Vanity Fair…too sociopath for me! Hated it, way too long for a lousy ending.
This post brought to you by coffee.
Mr. Whiskers took out a ball of yarn, but when I caught him with it, he acted like it didn’t even exist.

Then he went to pick out a new one to play with.

Then there’s Murphy. I brought Murphy home 5 years ago as a fluffy, FRIENDLY kitten. I don’t know what happened. No one was ever mean to him or anything, he’s just nasty.
He has the softest fur, and a curly, grey belly…that I don’t get to smush because he bites and scratches.
one second nice….

next second…claws in my hand!

makes me love mr. whiskers even more!!

enough cats i guess….
I’m making a sweater in Koigu KPM. I love it, it’s so nice to knit with and it’s going to make an awesome sweater! I think it’ll have drop sleeves and a lightly rounded scoop/boat neck.

closeup!

and my koigu from the other post in a different sock. I’m not so in love with this anymore. I found a new color of koigu I like even more, but I can’t get it until these are done. The last couple weeks all I wanted were a set of addi dpns, now I have a pair!! I hate short needles more than anything, and I hate bamboo in the tiny sizes, and the addi lace needles that smell like brass. The addi dpns are really long (8″) and not bendable…they are perfect!
ich kann es machen. (i love german rap…and two weeks away!!!!!!!!!!)
I have some tic tacs I bought in germany last year and I only have one left…I couldn’t eat the last one! They’re crazy tic tacs too, look there’s even a fansite for them…I have the acerola kirsch, but this time I’m going to find grapefruit!
I finished my koigu socks.

And started a new pair.

Which had to be ripped. But I decided to go with something else and restarted.
Modern Yarn got in tons more Koigu in a lot of pretty colors! I grabbed this one.

It also matches my scarf in Farmhouse Yarn’s Lumpy Bumpy in Chocolate Covered Cherries that is more blindingly bright pink than can be captured from my washed out phone picture.

I’m crocheting a plant for someone. If it comes out cute, I’ll make a few more.

And small granny squares for me! Two more to go!

I have a little helper that is glued to my lap. Last night he went into a bag and picked up a wound ball of cascade in his teeth and tried to walk off with it, twice.

21 days till Berlin!
I can’t wait!!!
Paige found my digital camera!
Now I can take non-fuzzy pictures again!
sock in vesper sock yarn, color Flamingo!

and some more of my favorite little smushiest cat ever..

today the modern yarn crew went to see martha stewart’s taping of their “handmade knitwear” show.
it was kinda weird, expecting it to be related to knitting…it wasn’t really. more of those ugly repurposed glove/sock creatures. i don’t know if anyone knows my extreme hate of sock animals…specifically monkeys. ugh. and yarn wrapping that i don’t think anyone needs instruction to do. and cooking….and ugly dessert decorations that only pretend to look knit. partway through i started thinking, if i were watching this on television, i’d have turned the channel by now..probably before i had to talk!!
we had good seats!!!! i was in the front row…except for my freaking out not wanting to actually BE on tv moment where i moved to the second row, only to move back to the front. i am so not watching myself on tv!

here’s what i wore…can you believe it, something finished and cute and worn outside my house!

Yarn was Cascade 220, 3 skeins of the red heather and 2 of a charcoal heather.
Size 8s for the body and sleeves, and 7s for the charcoal top parts.
i thought about writing the pattern and i don’t think i can do it. i made this so i could have something fitted perfectly to me and unique. a pattern would ruin that. i want more though. next i want something grey and navy with pockets. there will be a pattern for that. all day i kept thinking, this needs pockets!
i’ve been knitting every single second since last sunday. i can’t post pictures…because usually if i do that, it doesn’t get finished. 5 rows to go before it gets interesting! the only thing i’m concerned about is that it will weigh a ton. the mathematics of the whole thing is making me obsessive, my gauge is what i want in coordination with the decreasing i planned, and armhole shaping. I know it’s perfect gaugewise and all that but i keep rechecking my math, to the point i have the numbers memorized and even pulled out my phone during a lecture to double check even though i didn’t have my knitting with me.
i spent two hours in traffic coming home from school. lately i’ve spent A LOT of time sitting in traffic. or just huge amounts of time spent driving. i did a huge cleaning of my car the other day, 4 hours. it’s like it’s new again! then…i went and spilled half a venti latte in the center console thing.
finished the interesting part of the thing!!
the hardest part of this project was getting to the point i’ve hit now. it’s all quick and easy from here.
this is the second night in a row mr. whiskers went crazy.
i think he’s possessed.

and i finished something! okay i finished a few things that don’t make it to the blog…

greenjeans from knitty w some changes in the softest yarn ever, frog tree merino melange. since the picture (last night) the sleeve is done, ends woven in, only things i need are the buttons. it’s getting 6, not 1.
i also finished a hot coral-ish pink pullover that needs to be blocked, but i keep putting it off. and one of a pair of speckled koigu socks..i am still without digital camera. i also keep putting off cleaning my room…the camera must be here somewhere :(
if i can’t find it i need a new one before spring break.
BERLIN!!! can’t wait!!! i loooooove berlin and it’s very good looking scenery.
