That’s all the time I have left, and part of my horoscope for today pretty much sums up everything:
Although you may be thinking about all the places you want to go and all the interesting people you want to see, you begin to run out of time as the weight of unfulfilled commitments overtakes your other thoughts.
I’m drowning in things I have to do for school and for my trip.
So far the only prep I’ve done was get a few new clothes, fix my broken digital camera (replaced the lcd) and order a very useful notebook.
I don’t even want to think about the things I have left to do. List making, shopping, homework, PACKING!!!!!!!! Dreading the packing. Do you think I’ll even get to sleep the night before I leave??? I don’t.
There is a blog for the trip, making it’s debut soon. I’m not going to jinx anything by posting there before I depart.
And I need to remember: TAKE PICTURES EVERYWHERE, because I always forget and am disappointed later on. Super excited I fixed my camera though, I bought an LCD off ebay that fits the camera and replaced it yesterday. I was so sad when that camera broke after New Orleans, and the replacement was a sad substitute for me. And this camera needed it’s turn to go to Berlin with me since it was bought with my left over spending money from last years trip.
BTW, it has been way too warm, I’m desperately looking forward to the next couple of days.

I just got an Asus eee pc! It’s pink, I wasn’t looking for pink, but somehow ended up with it. I’m totally, almost over pink….at least pink electronics. I wanted it so I can take it with me to Germany, that way I don’t have to lug my regular laptop everywhere.
I like the small size, but it’s not uncomfortable to use. Maybe because my first Vaio was tiny. But that one is pretty much on the edge of death, and seriously taped together in some parts.
The major downside to the new computer is the screen!! Maybe I’m used to the lovely, glossy crispness of my normal laptop, or even my e71…this screen is fuzzy. The text is readable and everything, but it looks like it’s permanently dusty.

want to go swimming?

this is pooling,

I’m making this wrap cardi. The yarn I’m using is Ellen’s Half Pint Farm’s merino/silk blend in Southwestern Desert. I don’t love the color so much anymore, but I want it knit into something.
Anyway, massive pooling on the left front. The left front does go underneath the right, so it might not be so bad.
Just for comparison, here’s my finished back piece. (my cell’s flash kinda killed this)

I hope the right front doesn’t look as bad as the left.
can i go tomorrow?

I would if I could! So excited for my trip. I just booked my flight, basically same flight I took last year. Scandinavian airlines through Copenhagen, both ways. I kept saying I hated that airline, but I basically had to choose between flying through London or Copenhagen…and leaving from JFK or Newark, not a hard decision. I’ll be making a Berlin blog soon so I am forced to post knitting content here.
I’M GOING BACK TO BERLIN!!!!!!

The thing I applied for….from my last post!! I got in!!!!! I’m going to Berlin for a little over a month, from May to June! I think I might live off of döner kebabs, starbucks, and dunkin donuts. I think everyone knows how much I love the sandwiches at dunkin donuts. Seriously…have you ever seen anything like this at a dunkin donuts in america? nope.

I really liked my digital camera, but I guess sometime after getting back from my trip and now, it’s lcd got cracked in my bag. I had to get a replacement camera…and I hate it. Megapixelwise it’s the same, but it’s just not the same quality. I was using my phone’s camera but it can’t even be compared to a modern digital camera. At some point I’m going to get a replacement lcd to fix the old one. It wasn’t even a year old yet. I think that if anyone has been reading my blog for awhile you’d notice that I have horrible luck with electronics staying unbroken.
I just finished the Heartland Lace Shawl by Evelyn Clark(pdf). I used 2 hanks of Cascade 220, and a little bit of Rowan’s Scottish Tweed 4 ply in hot pink for a sc edge. I only did 3 repeats of the main lace pattern instead of the recommended 4, any more than 3 and I would not have had enough yarn. It came out as just what I wanted and makes a decent sized scarf.

I also made a pair of fingerless mittens/armwarmers. I used the toasty pattern for the basis, and knit them much longer, used a size 6 needle, and knit a waste yarn in for the thumb opening instead. I used nearly a full ball of Rowan Kid Classic. These are great for driving so I don’t have to touch the cold steering wheel in the morning.
Now I’m working on finishing Flo from Kim Hargreaves. I’m 2cm away from sleeve cap shaping on the first sleeve, then I have to go back and knit another front, and the other sleeve. I’m getting close to finishing, the back was the most tedious, I think, and if I made it through that I can make it through the rest of the sweater.

The only other thing I’m making right now that needs to get done soon is the Curtain Call shrug. I’m using Malabrigo in Paris Night…my absolute favorite color ever. It’s a really pretty, rich shade of navy. If it wasn’t for the yarn I would so have given up on this. Endless stockinette…..I’ve never knit anything so boring! 2 giant panels of stockinette. If I read ahead, I think I would have done it as one giant piece instead of two.

I finished this in 2 days! It’s Polly from Kim Hargreaves’ Thrown Together. I used 6 skeins of Cascade 128 in a charcoal gray. I love this yarn, it’s soft and dense, the weight is perfect for the cardi…the back doesn’t ride up.

I’m also making Flo, which is taking a lot longer than two days.
